Three Languages and a Translation Gateway
Written once in Chinese; Japanese and English are filled in automatically at publish time
This is a trilingual site: Chinese by default (root path, no prefix), Japanese at /ja/, English at /en/, with the browser’s language deciding which version you land on.
Only Chinese Gets Written
The great fear in maintaining three languages is “changing the Chinese and forgetting to update the Japanese and English.” The approach here is: write only Chinese. Every node, every card, every piece of news takes Chinese as its source, and at publish time a “config-first” translation gateway fills in the Japanese and English versions automatically—the gateway speaks the OpenAI-compatible format, and the key stays local, never uploaded to the repository.
Why Everything Caters to Readers in China
The site is hosted on Alibaba Cloud OSS, and most of its readers are in China—so the fonts are all self-hosted (Google Fonts’ CDN can’t be reached from behind the Great Firewall): Noto Sans SC for Chinese, Kosugi Maru for Japanese, Google Sans Flex for Latin, each playing to its strengths, rather than betting on whether an external link will load.
