The First Version: Four Rooms, One Galaxy
From Zero to One: Turning the Homepage into a Galaxy You Can Step Into
One thing was decided from the very beginning: no navigation bar on the homepage.
Four Rooms
Field · Making · Ideas · Bookshelf—four threads that make up the whole site. They aren’t divided by who’s visiting; they’re four “rooms” you can walk into. Beneath each room, submodules and articles grow, unfolding naturally as you read downward, with no complicated hidden entrances. The entire content tree is driven by a single galaxy.json—adding or removing a room means changing one place.
One Galaxy
The four rooms are four bearings on the galaxy, set upon a tilted elliptical star-disc; the navigation nodes, the connecting lines, and the disc all share the same affine geometry for alignment. The whole site is a single “sunset”—held within a family of blue-violet twilight, no clashing colors, no clamor.
An Opening
On entering, a “rope-lock” opening animation plays once (borrowing a flavor from Arknights / Endfield); it respects the “reduce motion” preference, plays only once, and never stops those who come back.
